What We Use

In a wet blast cabinet, we typically work with glass bead and aluminum oxide because we love the finish results it delivers for restoring and painting purposes. You can use any type of media in a wet blast cabinet, and it will work just fine. Some may prefer different types of media based off on what they are blasting.

If you want a smooth finish on an automotive part, you can use glass bead. Glass bead works perfectly on hard surfaces such as metal and will produce a bright satin finish without damaging the surface. As for etching, we use aluminum oxide to prep for painting. You can also use garnet, steel grits, and silicon carbide to prep for painting. It all falls down to what you are blasting and how you want your results to look.

Again, the media that is used for wet blasting depends on what kind of results you are looking for and the material you are blasting. For example, walnut shells can produce the same results as glass beads, and you can use it for metal polishing as well.
