How Durable Are Plastic Wet Blasting Cabinets?
A lot of people question the durability of our plastic cabinets. This article is going to explain what plastic we use and the advantages for a wet blasting machine.
What Material do we use?
The Weekend Warrior Bare Essential, Weekend Warrior, VH800 Base, and VH800- Fully Loaded are all made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE is lightweight, strong, long lasting, and impact resistant.
Advantages Of A Plastic Cabinet
One advantage of this plastic is that it is lightweight. A lightweight machine is excellent to have around because it can be easily moved out of the way when not in use.
Another advantage is that it is strong and impact resistant. The plastic cabinets are 0.25 inches thick. Now, that might not sound very thick, but these cabinets can hold their own. Don’t believe me, watch Terrence leave only a dent when hitting one with a hammer, or our video, where we drop it from 60 feet along with many other forms of abuse in an attempt to destroy it.
Thirdly, these machines are rust and corrosion proof, because besides the polymer on this machine, everything else is stainless steel. This separates our plastic cabinets from our competitors, who use carbon steel to construct their cabinets, which will eventually rust out.
Fourthly, all of our machines are made in America, where they are guaranteed to meet U.S. production and safety protocols for manufactured goods. This guarantees that there are no impurities in our cabinets. Each cabinet also goes through an inspection before being selected to use in the construction of a machine. This insures the quality of your machine will be nothing but excellent.
Lastly, plastic has great longevity. This is due to a mixture of the fact that it is corrosion and impact resistant. This plastic can withstand a lot that is thrown out, whereas our stainless steel machines would dent if hit hard enough, corrode over time from outside elements, or rust from the water used in the vapor blasting process.
Is A Plastic Wet Blasting Cabinet Worth It?
Plastic cabinets offer great longevity due to their corrosion and impact resistant construction. They are just as capable in industrial and hobbyist settings as their metal counterparts. It is worth noting that in the entire period we have been producing the plastic cabinets, not one has been replaced due to wear and tear. No matter what material machine you purchase, they are built to last. Additionally, they are backed by our industry leading lifetime warranty, so you can blast with confidence!
Knock Off Cabinets
You might see other metal cabinets at the price point of our plastic ones. However, these cabinets are made with a thinner material that is not as durable as our plastic cabinet. For example, their 16 gauge metal cannot withstand a hammer hitting it, whereas our plastic ones will only receive a dent.
