Does Vapor Blasting Remove Rust?

Does vapor blasting remove rust? The question we hear daily when working with re manufactures and restorers around the world. In today’s video, we are working with a really rusted gear. The purpose of the video is to show you guys that vapor honing can remove rust. There are other ways of removing rust such as sandblasting, hand sanding, or acid bath dips. Vapor honing is by far the easiest and fastest way to complete this job. Although, depending on how rusted the part is you can actually use aluminum oxide mixed with glass bead to remove the rust. However, since this part is overall just really rusty we are going to use solely aluminum oxide to remove the rust first. Next, is polishing up the gear and give it that really nice OEM finish. Then we vapor honed it in glass bead afterwards giving it an even better finish. As a result, vapor honing can remove rust and it did not damage the surface or teeth of the gear. In addition, how vapor honing works is by flow and not by impact, protecting the surface of the part being blasted. If you have an application that you have questions about we are happy to provide free sample part testing to prove your application. We have years of blasting experience blasting parts and designing equipment and can make your project a success.  Many people learning about the benefits of this revolutionary process always ask the questions “Does vapor blasting remove rust?” Hopefully, after watching this short clip it helps answer that for you.
