Wet Soda Blasting a Carburetor

Wet soda blasting is a solution for you if you are afraid of using other abrasive on engine parts. We use ARMEX XL soda formula mixed into the water of our vapor honing cabinet, and we also saturated the water until the water will no longer absorb any soda. Addition of soda is added on top to add grits.

We blasted a vintage carburetor that came from a motorcycle and the results were amazing. It did not do anything to the surfaces besides getting rid of the grimes and contaminate. The carburetor came out looking like its original color and no discoloration whatsoever.

With the help of water, wet soda blasting was fast and dustless. It took only couple of minutes just to finish cleaning the grimes off the carburetor. As you can see there was no dust flying in the air.

The grimes on the carburetor did not stand a chance.

This process is another way to remanufacture any automotive/motorcycle parts. Sodium bicarbonate is one of the softest materials in the market today and is superfast when mixed with water.

The combine power of water and soda makes it an excellent choice for cleaning any precise automotive/motorcycle parts with little dust as possible. There will be no surface damage and is the perfect solution for remanufacture. The surface will not have a polished finish because the purpose for wet soda blasting is cleaning grease and contaminate.

Sodium bicarbonate also last longer in a vapor honing cabinet compared to a dry cabinet. In a wet system, you can get multiple use out of sodium bicarbonate before it dissolves away into the water. As for dry soda blasting, you normally get one shot, and you are done.
