Abrasive blasting – Dry vs Wet blast

The question of the day is, “Which of the abrasive blasting is better, dry or wet abrasive media?”

First off, both dry and wet blast have almost the same quality finish. The difference between them are time and quality. Today we have a video of a K24 valve cover that will show how long dry blasting and wet blasting take to deliver the finished surface, and how well the quality is.

We have a time-lapse comparison video between dry and wet blasting that will show which one is faster. According to the video, wet blasting was faster. The wet blast has a total length of 7 minutes and 17 seconds while dry blast has a total length of 9 minutes and 15 seconds. The time-lapse video of wet blast stopped at 32.04 seconds and dry blast time-lapse video stopped at 36.20 seconds.

In todays business, speed and quality is the way to go. The more quantity you can deliver plus the service equals the more traffic you get. ( less time + quality = more customers) Its like fast food, the faster you get your food plus the quality of the food equals more customers.

The quality of both dry and wet have some differences. Dry blasting has a rougher feel to the finished surface. Whereas, the wet blast has a smoother finish. For the naked eye, the looks of the finished surface are almost alike, but if examined closely, the dry blast has uneven spread. On the other hand, the wet blast has a more even spread and is more consistent and efficient.
