Yearly Maintenance cost- Vapor Honing Machine

The question we get a lot is, “What kind of maintenance is required for a vapor honing machine?”

Our machines are not a high maintenance machine because when water and abrasive mixes together it becomes a passive process. When the water and abrasive hits the surface the water will cushion the abrasive and will remove contaminates without damaging the surface. That means that our components and machine will last 8 – 10 times longer than a regular dry blasting machine.

Gloves

The biggest thing that needs to be change first will be the gloves. It would usually be around 6 to 8 months, but that really depends on how often you use the machine. If you are a hobbyist, it will take longer before changing the gloves. The gloves are the components that are being used the most. Over time, wear and tear is going to happen and replace them is 45 dollars.

Window/Nozzle

The next thing will be either the window or the nozzle. Again, it depends on how often you use the machine. Within a year or longer, you will need to change the window and potentially a blasting nozzle. These components will be damage over a time period and will need to have maintenance done to it. Replacing a window would cost you around 45 to 60 dollars and the blasting nozzle will be 20 dollars.

Over a year, you will not be spending above or beyond 150 dollars for maintenance on a wet blast cabinet.

Abrasive

If you are running a wet blast cabinet every day, you will most likely change the abrasive every month. If you are running it a couple times a week, you will probably change the abrasive every 2 to 3 months. You can go up to 6 months without even changing the abrasive if you are running the machine once or twice a week. Maintenance on abrasive that is 25lbs. a bucket is only 25 dollars.

Lastly, if you tally everything up, your whole maintenance cost will be 200-dollar range or less. This is a whole year worth of use. To be honest, what other machine could you buy that will cost 200-dollar or less for maintenance.
